Giverny – Monet’s paradise
It is one of the most important cultural attractions in Normandy and an unavoidable destination for those who want to experience the world of Impressionism up close.
Claude Monet moved to Giverny in 1883 and lived here until his death in 1926. His estate includes both a large house and extensive gardens, which Monet himself helped to create and design. The gardens are divided into different areas and are an endless source of inspiration, which Monet reproduced in his paintings. Here you have the opportunity to step into a landscape that almost feels like walking directly into a Monet painting.
Monet’s house – An artistic home
Monet’s house in Giverny has been preserved to appear as it did when he lived here. The house is decorated with Monet’s own furniture and is painted in light colors, reflecting his love of light and color.
There is also a significant collection of Japanese woodcuts, which Monet was greatly inspired by. Visitors can experience Monet’s studio and dining table, where the artist spent many hours with family and friends.
The wonders of gardens – From flower garden to water garden
Claude Monet created his gardens in Giverny with great care and vision. The garden is divided into two areas, each offering a unique experience.
Flower garden, Clos Normand
The flower garden, also called Clos Normand, is a colorful garden full of flowers in every color of the rainbow. Monet loved to combine different varieties to create a rich palette that changed with the seasons. Here you’ll find tulips, peonies, poppies and roses, among others. The garden is decorated like a living painting where colors and shapes flow together.
Water Garden and the Famous Bridge
The Water Garden, which Monet created inspired by Japanese gardens, is perhaps the most famous part of his garden. The small bridge and floating water lilies on the pond are recognizable from Monet’s famous paintings, and this part of the garden provides a truly unique sight.

The hanging willow trees and water lilies that bloom from May to September create a magical picture that changes with the seasons and the changing light.
