The Palace of Versailles was originally built as a hunting lodge for Louis XIII, but was transformed into a sumptuous royal palace by Louis XIV in the late 17th century. Transportation to the Palace of Versailles
From Paris it is easy to reach the Palace of Versailles:
- Train: Take the RER C line from Paris to Versailles Château Rive Gauche station. From here, it’s only a 10-minute walk to the castle.
- Car: There are parking lots near the castle, but keep in mind that traffic around Paris can be heavy.
- Guided tours: Many travel agencies offer tours from Paris with transportation included.
